Candied Carrots

This simple & delicious recipe is an easy way to get your kids to eat their vegetables, without even knowing! Whenever I make this dish, I usually make 2 pounds so that l’ll have leftovers for tomorrow night, and I suggest you do the same. My daughter, Grace, enjoys steamed carrots, whereas my daughter Catherine likes her food nice and sweet. This recipe is the perfect way to satisfy them both. After steaming the carrots, I usually take some out and put them on the side, before I mix the rest in the brown sugar blend.

What You’ll Need:

  • 2 pounds of carrots
  • 1/2 stick butter (1/4 cup)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

Clean and cut the carrots into either circles or sticks, whichever you prefer. Then, put your carrots in a pot with water, and boil them until they’re tender. Then, drain them and begin the brown sugar blend. First, melt butter, then add brown sugar, and maple syrup. Then, immediately add your carrots. Bring them to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.

This is the perfect side dish to make with any meal. I usually serve this recipe with steak, chicken, or pork chops. And, these leftovers make a great, sweet snack!

Happy Cooking, but keep your eyes on the road!
