A couple of weeks ago I was at an event, New York State Women, Inc. dinner celebrating Women in History. I din’t know anyone at this event, so I started to introduce myself to the women, at my table, around me and started talking. After we got our food, it was a buffet and some of the women at the table weren’t happy about that. We started to discuss our likes and dislikes and what we cook. I mentioned, I don’t like corned beef and cabbage and I said I never cook it for that reason. The woman next to me mentioned she doesn’t like to cook. She said she made a few staple items but didn’t like to cook in general.
I thought about this. How many people are out there saying they don’t like to cook? I personally think a lot of people don’t like to cook because they were never taught or had the enthusiasm to learn to cook. I wish I could help these people. I would like to teach them simple recipes so that they don’t feel like a failure when they attempt to cook.
Cooking can be very rewarding and when you cook at home it saves you money. You can also control the ingredients of what you and your family eat. My suggestion is to start with simple recipes. Build your own collection of recipes a little at a time. Making adjustments as you go along.
Be adventurous, have fun. Look up different recipes. My children send me recipes they would like me to try. I don’t always follow 100% but I try new things all the time. I hope you will join me on my journey to encourage help those looking to learn how to cook.
Great words Jane, your food is exiting.
Thank you, Ben.
